Future Disco at Space, Ibiza 2012

There aren’t many other places in the world that evoke so much anticipation, passion and excitement as Ibiza. The small Island off the coast of Spain, has a lot to answer for. Each summer millions of people from around the world descend to enjoy some of the best electronic music of that current year. Future Disco has been lucky enough to be part of that for the past two years working alongside Carl Cox at his famous Tuesday nights at Space. This summer things are set to get even bigger as Future Disco take over the Sunset Terrace each and every Tuesday throughout the season from 8pm.

Anyone familiar with Space will know the Terrace is world renown for having showcased some of the best parties in living memory. So we are delighted to have been given the privilege to take over the Sunset Terrace, the only open air section of the venue, for what are set to be even more legendary parties in 2012. Musically, every week a very special guest from around the world will join resident Sean Brosnan until midnight. Then the party continues with Carl Cox and friends where everyone is entitled free entry.

The opening party takes place on 3rd July from 8pm with the debut performance from John Talabot.
Mixmag and DJMag are already picking up on what is guaranteed to be an amazing party!

Future Disco presents Stars Of The Future w/ Casino Times at Lemonade, The Nest

Future Disco has long been renowned for picking out the artists and producers that are destined for big things. So now Future Disco takes that same philosophy for delivering the next big thing and curates a brand new bi-monthly at The Nest, bringing fresh new artists to be heard before they are a name on everyone’s lips. Each month Future Disco residents Sean Brosnan and Dom Chung will join the special guest for a little look into the future.

On Friday 1st June, Future Disco will set sail on a very special Bank Holiday Boat Party with the legendary Greg Wilson for an official warm up to this year’s Garden Festival in Croatia.

For the past three years Future Disco have presented some of the best parties the Adriatic Seas have ever seen.  Captained by Sean Brosnan and Dom Chung, the boat parties continue to be a highlight of the Garden Festival, as they set sail for four hours on the beautiful Croatian waters. This year is no different, except Future Disco are warming up in serious style, with a very special Jubilee Bank Holiday boat party on the Thames with DJ legend Greg Wilson.

Greg Wilson will also be joined by shipmates and Future Disco residents Sean Brosnan and Dom Chung. The two DJ’s have been playing records for well over twenty years between them, notching up residencies in some of the country’s best clubs.

The special bank holiday party doesn’t just stop on the boat either; once docked, the party continues until the early hours. Details of the after party location and venue will be announced shortly.

Dom Chung at IF Birmingham

We return to If Birmingham for our third visit and it’s the second time Dom Chung returns to the famous terrace. If takes places in the centre of Birmingham and for the later crowd. Each week, come rain or shine, they open up the terrace where the music goes on until 6am.

There is nothing like dancing in the open air it seems. The last time Dom played, he kept it rocking well into the early hours, so we are expecting more of the the same this Saturday 28th April.

Crazy P in Helsinki: 7th April 2012

There aren’t many producers we come across on our musical travels that continue to rise to the top of the musical pile again and again. More often than not, a fleeting buzz of success can be followed by obscurity but Crazy P are different, they have staying power. First known as Crazy Penis in the nineties (until someone pointed out this may hinder any wider success) they changed their name to Crazy P around eight years ago and it’s been up ever since.

Formed by Jim Baron and Chris Todd, the band went from being a strictly studio production outfit to full live show with live instruments. The catalyst to wider notoriety, in our eyes, was the inclusion of Danielle Moore, the ace vocalist and first lady of Crazy P. The ability to innovate and stay interesting shouldn’t be underestimated in a fickle and fast paced world. But it is this ability that won them the iTunes Dance Album of the Year in 2011 for their latest long player When We On.

Their track, ‘Never Going to Teach Me’ remixed by the band’s Hot Toddy is a slow summer jam of epic proportions and featured on Future Disco Volume 3 : City Heat, while ‘The Hit’ appears on the latest album, Downtown Express. Then every few months we find ourselves in their company at a boutique festival or packed nightclub – you could say we are Crazy about Crazy P.

So it seems only fitting that they take centre stage at our Helsinki home Ahjo. After great sets over the past few months from Maxxi Soundsystem, Pete Herbert and Sean Brosnan, we thought it was about time to get Crazy P in on the act. So on Friday 7th April, Jim and Danielle will be taking the Soundsystem show to Helsinki. If you haven’t seen it before, it includes Daniele’s and vocals backed by Jim’s mixing and keys. It’s a guaranteed floor shaker. We can’t wait for next week and if you are in Helsinki, you should be excited too.

Future Disco Press Roundup

Future Disco Vol. 5: Downtown Express was released less than a month ago and with the reviews flooding in from around the world, we feel that it is safe to say, that this is probably the best Future Disco album yet.

Just before its end of February release, we were honoured for Future Disco to be crowned Mixmag’s Compilation of the Month, the first time we have ever received such praise. With a noticeable shift towards a blend of House and Disco taking over dancefloors all over, they celebrated that the latest album in the series “skillfully mixes up some of the current biggest moments from this sound”, we take it that means Miguel Campbell, The Revenge and Tiger & Woods.

Mixed by “connoisseur” Sean Brosnan, DJ Mag announced that once again he had “nailed it” by serving a mix of the current and future stars of Disco “re-imagined” through “Sean’s intuition as a DJ”. Blues & Soul awarded Downtown Express 5 out of 5 for its mix of “electronic boogie gems”, whilst Data Transmission called the album “seductive” and “loaded with charisma”.

We hope that you love Future Disco 5: Downtown Express as much as us and let us know what you think over on our Facebook page. If you haven’t picked up your copy yet you can grab a copy from the Future Disco Shop or all the usual digital stores including iTunes.
